This year, our theme is From REF to TEF, reflecting concerns across the profession about how to balance the competing demands of research and teaching excellence. The plenary will build on last year’s successful event on the aftermath of REF2014. Speakers will address the implications of the Higher Education and Research Bill and the Stern Review for History departments, considering the shape that TEF will take in future as it gradually focuses at the disciplinary level, what the next REF might look like in practice and how it relates to previous research assessment exercises. This is a ‘must attend’ event and will provide an opportunity for networking and sharing of experiences across the History sector in HE.
